What's working for you?

Soooo I've been busting my butt at the gym for the past oh maybe 8 weeks and I got nothing to show for it. Well scratch that, I'm actually 4 lbs heavier then when I started!

Back in the day all I had to do was think about working out and I'd lose weight! I'd sit all day at my desk eating gummy bears and yogurt raisins because the gummy bears were "fat free" and the yogurt raisins were "health food" and the weight would fly off. Oh how dumb I was, but with stupidity came great metabolism...something that apparently has been lost for some time now.

I think I am getting old. Perhaps on the cusp of menopausal? I'm creeping towards mid 30's so that may have something to do with it. Perhaps it's because I attack anything sugar the moment I see it? Or maybe it's because I spend over half my downtime on my ass in front of the computer...I don't know.

What I do know is that I do not want to keep gaining weight.

My weakness is sugar. I love junk food. I just ate 8 twizzlers and 2 marshmallows typing this post. I know it's easy to say stop or put it away but I guess I'm a little more needy than that.

So I am turning to you, my bitches. What is working for you? How do you fight off those nasty cravings? Is it possible to co-exist with junk in the house? (I have kids and it's hard to totally get rid of these foods)

What is your weakness and how are you battling it?

I can't wait to hear your ideas!

I want to know the answer to this too. In the past to lose weight I had to cut out all sweets/junk period. My cabinet was empty, not even cereal, gasp! But now with a hubby and kids, I feel like a bad mom/wife if I don't have chips, cereal and the other usual suspects. Maybe my thinking is backwards and I AM a bad mom because I allow this crap in my cabinet???? Can anyone sell my husband on that rationale??? I doubt it.

If there only was a magic answer to this question - none of us would be here asking the same thing... ;)

I think what worked best for me in the past was eating more protein than anything else, but I felt like crap and I just don't want to do that anymore.

I am approaching menopause, I am getting older, and Yes it is going to be a slow road to thin. I may never get there but I am getting healthier and hopefully more fit.

I worked my a$$ off for the last 3 months, then got sick a couple of weeks ago with a nasty cold - turned sinusitis, and now I have no energy to kick my butt back into exercising. It takes me 3 weeks to get into a good habit and then about 7 days to break it... bummer.

My weakness right now is summer and camping and the beer, coolers and food that goes with it all. I seem to maintain every summer. I weigh the same this year as I did last summer but I am a clothes size smaller. Which confirms for me that the stupid scale doesn't say it all. Measurements are better.

I only managed to lose weight when I was really really depressed. Too tired to get out of bed, too tired to eat. I gave up regular coke and sometimes have a coke zero for the caffine. Skittles are my weakness. I'm trying to give up candy and chips. Damn you taco cabana queso.

I try to ride my stationary bike every day. I'm supposed to ride 1-3 miles. But lately I'm lucky if I can force myself to ride half a mile. Woe is me.

I battle my sugar cravings with fruit. It doesnt always work. But it helps. I just try to keep LOTS of healthy options in the house. Its really hard right now though since I cant workout. And its really killing me!! I cant believe how much I miss my elliptical.

Zumba!

I've been eating all the wrong foods and still losing weight.

Of course, I've been choosing all the routines that have a lot of asshaking on them!!! Those make me EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA sweaty!!!

Fiber makes you poop! And it really helps to clean all of the ick out of your system, which helps you lose weight. I have also been doing weight watchers and have lost 13 lbs in 3 months. I was losing a lot when I was working out for 30 minutes 3 times a day. I need to get back to working out again, but even just following the weight watcher points I would lose weight without working out. Plus you don't have to go to the meetings, you can do everything online now!

Every time I start getting a craving, I make myself a cup of green tea.

Then, if I'm still feeling that way, I do some exercise of some sort..even if it's only for 5 minutes. It usually takes care of it.

And if it doesn't? I have a bowl of ice cream. Craving...gone ;-)
