It's all about ME(or You)!

Happy hump day bitches!  Most of us are at the 10 day mark.  Can you believe that?  You made it that far already.  There has been some belly aching (names withheld to protect the whole lot of us).  There have been a few slips(shame shame, I know your names), but all things considered?  IT IS WORKING!

So I read a very good post today.  Great post actually.  One of the things that I think everyone needs to remember is this is about get healthy (not just losing weight).  Feeling better about our total health.  And health my friends is not restricted to just our bodies.  It's our mental health too ladies (and gents if you are here).  BODY IMAGE is important.  This is a journey to self discovery, and self acceptance.  Right?  Right!

Please go check out my friend Holly over at 504 Main.  She posted a great blog regarding weight loss and body image and it was inspiring to me, so of course, I want to share with all of you.

The post drove home something else that resonated with me this week.  I was watching The Today Show (no judging, tv junkie here) and there was one of those financial experts on blathering about women and finances and blah blah blah.  But what really struck me was how different men and women really are.  Men know to take care of themselves first.  It is instinctual.  With women, we take care of everyone else first and put our needs, on the bottom of the list.  Example:  when you are getting ready to take off on a flight and the attendant goes through the spiel about seat belts, and exits, and how you can use your seat cushion as a flotation device should there be a water landing.  The flight attendant explains that should the cabin lose air pressure the oxygen masks will deploy and demonstrates putting your mask on first before attending to other passengers(children).  Yeah, ladies, just so you know, that is for our benefit.  Men know to do that.  We think of the kids first.

So, the point, that I am ever so round about getting to is this, YOU are important.  YOU need to be taken care of, by you.  You need to make time to exercise.  You need to make time to sleep.  You need to make time for you.  If we don't recharge our batteries, put the right fuel in our engines, we cannot do the things we want to do well.

So ladies, it's time to share with the rest of the class.  Tell me, what are you going to do, FOR YOU, this week?  Consider it homework.  An assignment of sorts.  Spill it.  All of you participating in the challenge.  One thing you will do for yourself this week!

Keep up the great work bitches!  I am so proud!  96 followers in 10 days?  UNBELIEVABLE!  You all rock my world!  Love!  ~Zgirl out!

Geeze... for me? Uh, getting my daughter to bathe her dog doesn't really count, does it? No! No! Of course not! I didn't mean that! Well, I will attempt to get my sick arse self up and dressed and make up on and get out the door this week, before I curl up and die with the sick husband beside me. Seriously? We are in some kind of bad shape up in here.

Huh and here I was thinking every day was Dual Mom day....it's NOT?

Seriously, I don't struggle with this as much as alot of moms do because of the shared custody thing. Every second week I have no choice but to do things for me...or do nothing at all. But it's very true, I realized this morning that for over half my life now, I've had others (kids) in my life who I put before me.

I'm loving this site and all the tips. I'm down 4 pounds so feeling good.

For me? eh..., This whole blogging thing is pretty selfish "me" behavior, isn't it? That plus exercise and adding in my nightly reading. I think I should be asking what I'm doing for the rest of the people in my life.

That is pretty much the same conclusion that I have come to. I said to myself, "I take care of the baby, my husband, and my dog all day long. No one is going to take care of me except for me."

Since I started this New Years Resolution, I have taken time every day to workout. And I'm already down 7 pounds!

I'm NOT staying up late to clean. Dust? blow it around to redistribute

Dishes - let the dog lick 'em clean

Vaccuum? Okay..I'll do this only because I'm a vacuum junkie - I actually enjoy the activity

You guys are like mind readers! I was just thinking/festering over the fact that I don't take enough time to do things just for me. It's scary...like stalker scary. But I forgive you because it's probably just my junk food withdrawal induced paranoia.

Anyway...I plan to make time this week to exercise. I always find excuses not to and that ends now. Even if it's just a quick walk around the block with the pup, I'm moving my fat ass this week!

And I'm looking forward to a pedicure with Mom, but that's not for another week or so. Still counts though. :)

I am enjoying this, not because I have to loose weight (just get healthier) but the main goal is to become a better me. And I often think less of myself and I need to find acceptance within me. Happy in me. Not in everyone around me. And I think no matter your size or role in life, that we often loose us and I want me back! I am giving myself a home spa day. Bubble bath, candles, facial...just gotta find the day.

Thanks for the reminder that this is about being healthier (which was my resolution; not to lose weight, but to be healthier). I haven't lost a GD pound and I'm pissed about it, but I am feeling better, so I suppose that counts for something. Not sure what I'm going to do for me this week, not sure that I've got time, but I'll try to come up with something.

If I can get my lazy ass out of bed and work out before work for the rest of the week, I'm going to treat my sad, sad toes to a pedicure (even though it's FREEZING here and they haven't seen the light of day in months...)

I must be really terible... Cause I SO dont have this problem! LOL I told my husband a long time ago 'Either this house can look good or I can look god.' Guess which one I pick? LOL

I get my nails done, I sleep in on my hubs days off, and Im totally planning on getting my boobs done this year. I think I'm being selfish enough.... =)
(I still cook and clean and all that too! I swear.)

hmmmm, for me?? That's a difficult one. There is no time for me usually except my bath/book time which is my favorite. I think I'll try to make time to do that more this week.

It releases stress and makes me feel so much better being in a quiet room with my book. . except my big tub is leaking and the sub floor is rotting so we have to fix all that.

I get the kids normal size tub for a while . . . oh my it's interesting seeing me get in and out of that tiny thing. LOL

We men do tend to put ourselves first. Funny that.

Great blog, so true that women put ourselves last all the time. Even in front of other women. I am currently debating going to a friend's HORRIBLE boyfriends' house for a party he's throwing...
and I'm feeling bad becuz I hate her bf and dont want to go.

Why cant I just say ' No thanks' without feeling guilty or bad for bailing on my friend.. why should I put her before my own sanity!?

enough of that!
me me me!:) hahahah
this could get dangerous!

Thanks for linking to that post. I was so hesitant to write it, but it seems to have hit home with a lot of people...who knew?

I am doing some research on the adrenal system for a new post...mine's shot!

This week, I am going to try and step away from the computer (even thought I love blogging, etc.) and get some rest and read some magazines (one of my greatest pleasures).

Way to go on so many followers in such a short time!

I'm not obsessing about cleaning the damn house and I'm just going to relax. Kids have been home for 5 weeks now (summer holidays).

Goal for the previous week in an attempt to destress myself? Stop yelling. And I have! I'm amazed.

I'm working on me with the Wii exercises. Once kid #3 is at school, it's just me and kid #4. This would be the perfect time to clean house, but it's my almost quiet time and kid #4 enjoys following along with me when I exercise (or crawling between my legs between lunge jumps). Then we sit and play a video game together. Thanks for the inspiration ladies!! or is it bitches??

Even since leaving Hubby I still don't seem to put myself first.
I constantly am thinking about him or the kids and stopping myself from doing things for them (as in shopping for them).
So my goal for this week is to take this time by myself to read an entire book in a week, and get a pedicure! Stuff that makes me happy :)

I agree with Dual Mom on this. I have shared custody as well so I have days without kids etc that I can manage to actually have some internal growth. Though I do deal with a load of step children that seem to take up a lot of thought in my head with all their issues.

I really enjoyed this post.
